In 2020, the Ihanktonwan (Yankton Sioux Tribe) was awarded the Tribal Opioid Response Grant by SAMHSA. The TOR initiative is aimed at preventing methamphetamine use among adolescents on the Yankton Sioux Reservation of the Ihanktonwan Oyate Nation.

We recognize the drug use epidemic among our people. We are here to take a stand against these issues, by promoting and living a balanced and healthy life.

To teach, guide, and empower our youth, the next generation, to break these familial cycles, we will incorporate our Ihanktonwan Dakota teachings, use Equine therapy, and engage in cultural activities.
